The king and the queen

The king and the queen now stand for the official logo of the coastal rowing world championship 2017.

Standing for the advent of the new millennium, the "Le Roi et la Reine" (the king and the queen) sculpture aroused keen interest among the inhabitants of Thonon when exposed from December 1999 to January 2000 at the Visitation chapel.

People can enjoy once again the passionate work of André Raboud, a French-Swiss artist, highly noteworthy when exposing for the 1st time in 1975, with his masterpiece, "le Roi et la Reine". This sculpture is unique: made of black granite from Africa, it is 3.75 m high and 1.40 m wide. It stands for a stylistic evolution marked by gratitude and respect for materials such as stone.

This sculpture standing for Man and Woman of 2000 was inaugurated on July 2001, the 11th, on the Place du Château, within the belvedere of the city of Thonon-les Bains. It now stands for the official logo of the coastal rowing world championship 2017.
